Most senior expat roles are filled through recruiters or LinkedIn — not public job boards. Here's where to focus your effort.
Most C-suite and director-level expat roles are placed through specialist recruiters with Saudi market relationships.
For mid-level and technical roles, direct applications via regional job boards remain effective.
Saudi mega-projects recruit heavily internationally. Apply directly through their own career portals.
Vision 2030 has created massive demand for international expertise. These sectors are actively seeking expats with specialist skills.
Cloud architects, cybersecurity specialists, AI/ML engineers, product managers. Major demand from NEOM, MCIT, and Saudi tech start-ups.
Project directors, civil engineers, quantity surveyors, MEP specialists. NEOM, Diriyah Gate, Red Sea Project all hiring at scale.
Specialist physicians, surgeons, nurses, hospital managers, medical device sales. Saudi hospitals expanding rapidly under Vision 2030.
Hotel GMs, F&B directors, event managers, tourism developers. Saudi's tourism ambitions demand experienced international operators.
Investment bankers, fund managers, CFOs, financial analysts. Tadawul (Saudi Stock Exchange) and PIF expanding their teams.
University professors, international school teachers, vocational trainers. Growing private school sector and new international universities.
Saudi Arabia hiring processes are thorough. Expect multiple rounds and thorough background checks — but also competitive packages once an offer is made.
CV sent to recruiter or direct. Initial screening call with HR — expect questions about salary expectations and willingness to relocate. Saudi employers typically want an English CV (2 pages max) plus a separate Arabic summary if possible.
Typically 2–4 rounds: HR screening → hiring manager → panel/senior leadership. Video calls are standard for initial rounds; in-person final rounds are common for senior roles. Government-linked entities may have more formal assessment centres.
Saudi employers often make a verbal offer first. Negotiate total package: basic salary, housing allowance (typically 25% of basic), annual flights, school allowance, health insurance. Counter-offers are expected — don't accept the first offer without reviewing all components.
After accepting, your employer applies for your work visa. You'll need authenticated documents (degree attestation, marriage certificate). GAMCA medical exam in your home country. Processing takes 3–8 weeks. Plan your relocation around this timeline.
Always negotiate the total package value, not just basic salary. A SAR 30,000/month basic with SAR 10,000 housing allowance + annual flights + SAR 40,000 school fee + health insurance is worth significantly more than SAR 35,000 basic alone.
