Resolving a Labour Dispute in Saudi Arabia

    File a Qiwa ComplaintSubmit your complaint at qiwa.sa. Your employer has 21 days to respond through the platform. Most salary disputes are flagged automatically by the Wage Protection System (WPS).

    MHRSD Mediation (21 days)If the Qiwa complaint is unresolved, the Ministry of Human Resources schedules a mediation session within 21 days. The majority of disputes settle here — attendance is mandatory for both parties.

    Labour CourtFailed mediation escalates to the Labour Courts. Proceedings are in Arabic — retain a licensed legal representative. Keep all employment contracts, payslips, and written communications as evidence.

    Court of AppealsLabour Court decisions can be appealed within 30 days of judgment. Arbitrary dismissal compensation: 2 months' salary per year of service, over and above EOSG. Employees cannot be dismissed during sick leave or maternity leave.
⚠ WPS creates an automatic salary payment record. MHRSD can access WPS data directly — unpaid salary is among the easiest claims to prove. Keep digital copies of everything.
